Establishment of the company in the wider area of Thessaly, by Stelios Peponopoulos. The production of ice cream was then undertaken by him in collaboration with the Dairy Industry EVOL, while when EVOL left production, the only ice cream producer in the greater area of Volos, remained Stelios Peponopoulos.

The first standardization takes place, with the ice cream stick being packed in the characteristic paper bags, with a standardization machine that Stelios Peponopoulos got from EVOL.

The business of Stelios Peponopoulos, changes form and becomes S. Peponopoulos & Co., as the company enters a new era, that of standard ice cream. His three sons enter the business dynamically and the company settles in Neapolis of Volos, equipped with new and advanced technology, where it now prepares more than 45 types of ice cream, all standard and all with the signature and guarantee of the brand “PELION”.

The company introduces to the market an original and innovative product, changing the data so far in ice cream, “THE LITTLE ICE CREAM”, small ice creams (mainly sticks and rockets) in various shapes and flavors.

A new era is inaugurated that seals the successful course of the previous years. The company is installed in the new state-of-the-art privately owned factory, with a total area of 2000 sq.m. in the BIOPA of Volos (AIVI.PE of Volos), ensuring high technology productive means. In addition, the legal form of the company is changing, which is now renamed PEPONOPOULOS SA.

There is a new expansion of the company in an area of 1700 sq.m., which is covered purely with 4 state-of-the-art deep-freezing chambers, for greater storage space as demand multiplies and to achieve better results in complying with safety and hygiene rules of the production process.

It harmoniously combines the two main pillars of the company, the Pelion mountain, from which the company’s name comes, and the ice cream product, which was first introduced to the market in 1996 and became its trademark.

Making a significant investment, we have created the most suitable factory structures to meet international quality assurance standards and health and safety systems at work and in the production of products. Our new state-of-the-art factory, with state-of-the-art equipment, has been installed since 2006 in the 1st Industrial Zone of Volos and covers a total of 4000 sq.m., of which 1700 sq.m. covered by deep freezing chambers.

Today, in order to improve the production area and meet the requirements, the company ``PELION`` expands further, creating a new wing with a total area of 1000 sq.m., always having as a basic concern the assurance of excellent quality, we faithfully follow the compliance policy of the strictest hygiene rules at all stages of production and distribution of our products. For this reason we faithfully apply the Greek and European legislation, in accordance with the rules ISO (ISO 9001: 2000, ISO 22000: 2005) BRS and IFS.
